      [extracted from 1913 obituary of George W Towar, Jr] Acting Assistant Surgeon George Washington Towar . . . He was born in Lyons, N. Y., December 14, 1835; received his preliminary education in Oberlin College and Antioch College, and took his medical course in Harvard Medical School, from which he was graduated in 1858 . . . [1882] He then went into business with his father in Detroit, and on the death of his father became president of the Towar Creamery Company, and held that position until his retirement in 1906 . . .
