Hannah Hammond and James Read were the parents of six identified children - Lazarus Hammond Read (married
Elizabeth Lyon Woods); William Hanson Read; John Hammond Read (married Lois Ann Tubbs); Catherine B Read (married James Ferris); James H Read (died as young man); and Elizabeth Sarah Read (married Henry Whiting Perrine).
At Bath, WNY, on Saturday morning, May 20th, Mrs Hannah Read, aged seventy-five years. Mrs Read was one of the earliest and most devoted of the faithful communicants of St Thomas' church, Bath, having been confirmed by Bishop Hobart in 1829, at his second visitation to the parish. It falls to the lot of few to exemplify the great virtues of domestic, social, and Christian life as she did, and to be followed to the grave by so large a . . of sincere mourners.
